Five years ago I contacted an online debt company, to date I have paid them $1400.00,they are out of business, did not pay any of my debts, the p-eople I owe are hounding me,I'm 71 years old and Have NO MONEY. help............

I am so sorry to hear you were ripped off by a debt consolidation company.

I think your best bet at this point is to set up a a free consultation with a bankruptcy attorney. Even if you don't want to file for bankruptcy, the attorney can tell you whether any of your property or income is at risk. If you are "judgment proof" (which means there is nothing they can go after to collect), then the attorney may be able to help you write letters to your creditors explaining your situation and asking them to leave you alone.
